The Seasons
Your design moves through time.
Your design does not sit still. In Soul Design Atlas the seasons are one of the three things the method reads, alongside your themes and your profile, and they are the part that moves: the same theme lands differently depending on the season you are in. A move that is exactly right in one season can be exactly wrong in the next, even when the theme behind it is the same. This is what the seasons are, and how to read where you stand.
The long cycles
Three seasons of a life.
Your life moves through three long cycles, three seasons that each last 28 years. Youth, from birth to 28, is carried by your birth month. Adulthood, from 28 to 56, is carried by the day you were born. The later years, 56 and beyond, are carried by your birth year, a season of looking back and passing on.
The turns at 28 and 56 are real thresholds; many people feel the ground shift around them. And because a cycle changes at each turn, some of your relationship numbers move with it: the dynamic you share with a partner, a parent, or a child can shift as one of you crosses into a new season, and new themes come up between you. Whichever number rules your current cycle colours these years, the way a key colours a piece of music. The same design, played in a different season, sounds different.
The personal year
A nine-year arc.
Inside the long cycle, a shorter season turns each year: your personal year. It runs in a nine-year arc, from a 1, a fresh start, round to a 9, a letting go, and then begins again, one octave higher. Each year carries a theme, the same archetypes you already know, lived in time. You can feel which one you are in.
Personal Year 1 The LionA fresh start. A year to take initiative, face your fears, claim your place, and become visible.
Personal Year 11/2 Butterfly & Frog & the Wolvesalways 11/2A 2 year is never only a 2: the count always passes through the 11, so it arrives as the master 11/2. The Wolves' cooperation, trust, and connection, carried on the Butterfly and Frog's heightened sensitivity and felt more intensely. Start the real conversations in time, seek the balance between giving and receiving, and let your sensitivity be the compass.
Personal Year 3 The RabbitFollow your enthusiasm and your curiosity. Experiment, and pause often enough to notice what you feel, and to say it.
Personal Year 4 The Beesometimes 22/4Choose a rhythm that works for you. Make a plan, follow it through, and see the result. In some years a 4 arrives as the master 22/4, the Architect: the same building work, charged with a larger vision.
Personal Year 5 The SwallowFreedom and constraint, independence and dependence. Choose adventure; change is here, and new visions of the future arrive.
Personal Year 6 The Dogsometimes 33/6Tend the tensions, and see how they mirror your core themes. Take good care of yourself, and of family, house and home. In some years a 6 arrives as the master 33/6, the Mirror: the same care, asked to hold a higher frequency.
Personal Year 7 The OwlConnect with yourself on a deeper level. A time for reflection and healing: who else could you become, and what talents are still waiting?
Personal Year 8 The ElephantMake intentional choices, put your life in order, and walk your own path. Worldly success tends to follow of its own accord.
Personal Year 9 The DolphinA year of reflection. What do you want less of, and what are you ready to let go? And who are the new people you feel truly connected to? The master vibrations are not a separate set of years; they are how some of these years actually arrive. A 2 year always passes through the 11, so it is always an 11/2. A 4 year is sometimes a 22/4, and a 6 year sometimes a 33/6, depending on how that year's numbers add up. These are years of transformation, when an imbalance becomes the opening to grow. The master theme and the steadier number beneath it feed each other: the ground lets the intensity land, and the height lets the everyday work be done with more soul.
The design does not change. The season you read it in will.
The month, and the day
Finer still.
The same nine-year arc turns at smaller scales. Within your personal year, each month carries a personal month, one of the same twelve themes; and within the month, each day carries a personal day. The theme does not change across these scales; what changes is how strongly it is felt. When the same number lines up, a 1 year that also holds a 1 month and a 1 day, and most of all when it sits inside a 1 cycle, or the challenge of that cycle is the 1, that theme reaches its fullest intensity: the Lion's call to begin is everywhere at once, impossible to ignore.
The art is to read them together. The year sets the undercurrent, the month sets the surface, and the day is the texture of the moment. A month of initiative lands one way under a year of building, and another under a year of letting go. A Lion month under a Bee year still carries the quieter question of the 4: are you doing this from inspiration, or from the fear of not being good enough?
The Monthly Letter is the simplest way to read this: one short letter, on the first morning of each month, written for your personal month against the undercurrent of your year. Read slowly, with coffee.
A way in, not a forecast
On time, honestly.
None of this is a forecast. A personal year does not decide what happens to you; it names the weather you are most likely walking through, and the kind of move that tends to work in it. What you do with the season is, as always, yours.
Frequently asked
The seasons, in short
Quick answers about the life cycles, personal years and timing.
What are the seasons in Soul Design Atlas?
The seasons are how your design moves through time. Soul Design Atlas reads three key elements — your themes, your profile, and the seasons — and the seasons are the part that changes: the same theme lands differently depending on where you stand in your life and your year.
What are the three life cycles?
Your life moves through three long cycles of 28 years. Youth, from birth to 28, is carried by your birth month. Adulthood, from 28 to 56, is carried by the day you were born. The senior season, 56 and beyond, is carried by your birth year — a time of looking back and passing on.
What is a personal year in numerology?
Inside the long cycle, a shorter season turns each year: your personal year. It runs in a nine-year arc, from a 1 (a fresh start) round to a 9 (a letting go), then begins again one octave higher. Each year carries one of the twelve themes, the same archetypes lived in time, and you can usually feel which one you are in.
How do I find my personal year?
Add the day and month of your birthday to the current year and reduce to a single digit (the master numbers 11/2, 22/4 and 33/6 are kept). That number is your personal year, and it turns each year on or around your birthday. The same arc also runs at smaller scales: a personal month within the year, and a personal day within the month.
Is a personal year a prediction?
No. A personal year does not decide what happens to you; it names the weather you are most likely walking through, and the kind of move that tends to work in it. What you do with the season is always yours.
Read the season you are in.
Your Atlas reads your cycles alongside your numbers, animals, colours and body. The Monthly Letter brings the season to your inbox, one morning a month.
