The Body Layer

Where your design lives in the body.

In Soul Design Atlas, every theme is more than a number: it arrives as an animal, a colour, and a place in the body. The body is where a theme stops being an idea and becomes something you live in form. When the layer is awake, the archetype lands. When it is blocked, it falls into one of two characteristic shadows. This is what the body layer is, and how to read it.

Within the themes

Why the body.

Numbers give the structure. Animals make it felt. Colours hold the light and the shadow. And the body grounds all of it, because a theme you only understand with your head stays an idea; a theme you feel in the body becomes something you can live. The body layer is where the design stops being a description and becomes a felt thing.

The map

The twelve, mapped to the body.

Each archetype sits at a chakra, a centre in the body with its own anatomy and its own way of speaking. The seven you may know, from the root at the base to the crown at the top, carry the numbers 1 through 7. Three more sit beyond the familiar seven: the high heart for the 8, the earth star below the feet for the 9, and, higher still, the chakras of the master numbers.

The twelve, mapped to the body.
1Root The Lion

The pelvis, the pelvic floor, and the soles of the feet. The base, where weight lands. Awake, you arrive, and beginning feels less like a leap than a step onto ground that holds.

2Sacral The Wolves

The lower belly, two fingers below the navel, the hips, the sacrum, the inner thighs. The water space, where feeling moves. Awake, you feel the room without losing your own shape.

3Solar Plexus The Rabbit

The bright belt between the navel and the base of the sternum, and the diaphragm. The body's own sun. Awake, what you make comes out of the burrow and into the light.

4Heart The Bee

The centre of the chest, the sternum, the lungs, and the space between the shoulder blades. Awake, you build from love rather than fear, and can hold yourself as well as everyone else.

5Throat The Swallow

The throat, the neck, the jaw, the vocal cords, and the thyroid that sits at this gate. Where what is seen becomes what is said. Awake, your voice carries home what you saw.

6Third Eye The Dog

Between and just above the eyebrows, the brow bone, and the space behind the eyes. The steward's gaze. Awake, you see what is yours to tend, and what is not.

7Crown The Owl

The very top of the head, the parietal bones, and the space just above it. The antenna. Awake, you live in quiet conversation with what is larger than you.

8High Heart The Elephant

The upper chest, between the heart and the hollow of the throat, where the thymus sits. The gate where power matures into love. Awake, your authority arrives with care.

9Earth Star The Dolphin

A hand's width below the soles of the feet, and the long column up through the legs and the spine. The line of those who came before. Awake, you receive as fully as you give.

11Causal Butterfly & Frog

Behind the head, in the soft hollow where the skull meets the neck. The receiver of what is unspoken. Awake, you sense what a room has not said, and know which signals are yours.

22Soul Star Butterfly & Tiger

A hand's width above the crown, and the whole column of descent down through the body. Where the blueprint is held. Awake, you bring a large vision down, stone by stone.

33Stellar Gateway Butterfly & Chameleon

Highest of all, above the crown, with the skin and the face as its mirror. The connection to pure light. Awake, you reflect others while keeping your own colour.

Light and shadow

Awake, or blocked.

Every layer has a light and a shadow. When the body layer is awake, the archetype lives in form, and the gift moves freely. When it is blocked, it does not simply disappear; it splits into two shadows, the same wound seen from opposite ends. The Root, for instance, either forces the fire before there is ground under it, or never quite claims the place that is its own. One overcompensates; one withdraws. Reading the body layer is learning to notice which end you are living from, and to find the way back to the centre. The way back is rarely more thinking; it is a small, repeated attention to the body where the layer lives, the breath, the feet, the hands.

The head understands the design. The body lives it.

A way in, not a verdict

On the body, honestly.

The body language here is descriptive, drawn from embodied tradition, from body-based therapy, and from the plain observation of how an unattended pattern tends to show up in the body over time. It is a way in, not a diagnosis. None of it is medical advice; if a signal in your body persists, please see a doctor. The body layer is offered for the same reason as the rest of the method: not to label you, but to give you somewhere to begin.

Frequently asked

The body layer, in short

Quick answers to the questions people most often ask about the body layer.

What is the body layer in Soul Design Atlas?

In Soul Design Atlas every theme is more than a number: it arrives as an animal, a colour, and a place in the body. The body layer is that last facet — each of the twelve archetypes sits at a chakra, a centre with its own anatomy and its own way of speaking. It is where a theme you understand with your head becomes something you can feel and live.

Which number belongs to which chakra?

The seven familiar chakras carry the numbers 1 to 7: Root (1, the Lion), Sacral (2, the Wolves), Solar Plexus (3, the Rabbit), Heart (4, the Bee), Throat (5, the Swallow), Third Eye (6, the Dog) and Crown (7, the Owl). Three more sit beyond them: the High Heart for the 8 (the Elephant), the Earth Star below the feet for the 9 (the Dolphin), and higher still the chakras of the master numbers — the Causal (11), the Soul Star (22) and the Stellar Gateway (33).

What does it mean when the layer is awake or blocked?

When the layer is awake, the archetype lands: you live its gift naturally and feel at home in that part of the body. When it is blocked, it falls into one of two characteristic shadows — usually too much of the theme, or too little. The body layer reads both, so you see not only your themes but how fully you are living them.

Is the body layer the same as the chakra system?

It borrows the chakras as a map of where each theme lives in the body, then pairs each centre with a number, an animal and a colour. The seven classic chakras are included, plus three higher centres for the 8, the 9 and the master numbers. It is a way of locating your design in the body, not a separate spiritual practice.

How does the body layer fit into the method?

Soul Design Atlas reads your design in three key elements: your themes, your profile, and the seasons of your life. Each theme is a number, an animal, a colour and a place in the body — so the body layer is the felt dimension of the themes, the thing that turns a description into something you can live.
